I know carbine parts are a hot commodity these days, but any guesses why a CRACKED stripped A.I. bolt would sell for $91 plus $10 to ship??? Do folks not know it can't be used that way?? Not too long ago I was buying perfectly good Inland bolts for cheaper than that.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/224279207133

I had emailed the seller to get the circumstances of the bolt cracking and he stated he bought it that way.

Crazy! I thought it was high when I saw it at $70, can't believe it sold that high.

That's $91 + $10 Shipping...
16 of 21 bids were by the winner, who has Zero feedback.
1 bidder with over 1,000 feedbacks bid $50 on it.

Wonder if it gets paid for ?

I would buy cracked bolts, but at no way near that price!
I collect parts as examples of the markings and broken parts are (should be) a much cheaper alternative than having a box parts that belong on a carbine. Also good for displays

*EDIT TO ADD*

Are we adding this to a list of known cracked bolts?

Thanks guys, butI should have asked:
"Why would anyone in his right mind buy that particular cracked bolt, it's not even rare ?"

Perhaps "he" has a tig out fit and wants to practice welding. Confused

Many of us have Extra Pawls tucked away.
I've fixed one bolt tool with the center pin broken off like the one on Auction, by screwing in a threaded screw, then grinding it to proper length and diameter. So far it has held up. It really wasn't that hard to adapt a new screw.

FWIW

ETA: Someone thought that Bolt Tool was worth $13.50 and $4.00 shipping.

What's a NN Frt sight, sight pin, lead key and KI bay band worth?
If $149.50 +tax..... ? I may be out of this hobby.
Let alone a shipping time of up to 37 business days !

Won by a bidder that appears to have padded his bid 6 x's.

This could become a interesting thread to continue with.
Highest price paid for _ _ _ _ you fill in the blanks.

Holy cow!  I know the market is demanding high prices on genuine Khaki WWII C-tips, but I still can’t bring myself to pay what they have been fetching.

Sure as heck wouldn’t pay it for a D-tip...in any condition or variety.

Well, maybe if it had rock solid provenance of being used by a Marine at the battle of the Chosin Reservoir....I’d pay it then!

I don't like his use of WW2 in the Title.
Then using the description as a 'how to' to educate buyers. He should use the words D tip and Post WWII.
Just isn't right...... Seeing new buyers, not quite fully informed taking a beating.
Lessons learned I guess, but again, reading his description and warnings about mis-represented slings is making my blood boil. I've given dozens of D tips away to friends and strangers alike.
He'll have plenty more coming down the pipe.

Painter, the other side of the coin is the repro C tips. As you and most of the experienced guys know, it isn't always easy to recognize the differences between them and the originals. Its easy to get taken and once bitten, twice shy.

i got lucky at the last gun show in greenville
A guy had a sling in a box of junk.  It was dark and dirty
Took it home, washed it, and it was an old C khaki sling with brass dot fastner
Paid $20 for it

I’ve seen pictures online showing D tips.
Notice sling color is the lighter green OD, Korean Vietnam era were a garter OD green.
I also have C tips available but they start at $175.00 if your interested.

Should I ask what garters have to do with olive drab or green?
