The Plainfield was light striking primers and needed rear sights. The rear bracket that holds the receiver and upper stock pivot was broken at the top where the metals is quite thin.

A thorough cleaning of the bolt front and rear, receiver where the lugs engage, firing pin, and trigger housing solved the light strike issue.

This is the bracket that secures the folder and receiver. I trigger welded it to get some heat into the weld without warping it and made successive passes to build up the material.

After getting it welded and back together it needed to be shimmed up and the stock trimmed under the receiver to get everything sitting nice in the stock. That tin cover used to flop around and I banged it back in shape with some body hammers so it is nice and tight.

The cheese grater was replaced by an IO handguard. I also washed the stock with a light black stain and some 600 grit to get it the finishes to match. The rear sight was replaced with a SG.

The rearward pic shows the receiver canted to the left. The picture angle makes it look worse than it is, but it still needs fixed. I saw the stock under the receiver was angled when everything was apart, but I thought the receiver would align to the stock instead of the bracket. It is re-shimmed now.
