Hello,
Don't know if anyone has seen this yet, Gunbroker auction #925255585. Been in the market for one but this looks suspicious to me.

Very suspicious especially since there is no comma after the .30 on the receiver ring.

Hello,
Yep, first thing I did was check out this site. I'm far from an expert, learning every day, and figured someone hear could lead me on the right path.
Thanks

Do we think the receiver is suspect, or just the front ring?

It looks to me like the receiver ring has been ground down and restamped - the depth from the lip is very deep and there is unevenness. The heel doesn't look disturbed to me, and I also don't see evidence of a "reweld". Could very well have missed some detail however!

CCNL 383-14 had an "Un-usual" UN-QUALITY that Marcus mentions. It appears that US&S rolled NATIONAL
POSTAL METER on the rear and then buffed it off and rolled UN_QUALITY
the area of the serial number shows no buffing and the serial is correct for QHMCs UN-Qs receivers.

You can see the T and O of NATIONAL at the top. The Postal Meter is shown for perspective

the arrows point to buffing.

So as to the one on GB, It could only be made by NPM or US&S based on the receiver configuration.
As pointed out there appears to be no monkey business on the rear of the receiver.

The front ring does show some buffing or grinding. Is it possible there was a roll die error and is a result of grinding? This would leave less metal and maybe when   re-rolled the dies did not strike deep enough due to missing material. This may account for the missing comma.

So I do believe the receiver to be genuine but has issues on the front ring. There is also pitting at the rear. So the question is someone willing to pay that much for that receiver?

Hello,
Well, I don't know if a member here or not, someone hit the "Buy It Now" on the receiver on Gun Broker.
