    Posted: Nov 29 2020 at 11:09am

Hello All

Can anyone help with information on the serial number of this Rock Ola? The serial number starts with a 6 and ends with a 5 with space between the numbers with two struck lines between the numbers.

Thanks
Guy

Interesting, but maybe not in a good way. Is that the remnant of another number under the 6?

It appears to me to be a spot of original finish. See new enlarged picture.

I have done a little looking on the net.  You might want to check out having a weapon with an altered serial number.

We did a newsletter item on a carbine that had a similar situation. The owner applied tot he ATF and was given a new serial number to be put on the side of the receiver.

I believe there is also a post on these forums talking about this.

Doesn’t sound good. I was hoping it had a unique military quality like the strike thru numbers. Sounds like a headache.

altered serial or ground off is a no-no with ATF--if you get caught with it it is contraband, if you simply file for a new serial they have to give to you or prove it was used in a crime-both times I received new serial numbers--only catch is you have to take it to local atf office and get it documented as applied--they give you no paperwork and charge no fee--they will call you with new serial--one of mine was lunch bucket clearly ground off and other was a presentation given to ordnance officer-I put new serials below wood line to not affect the ww2 look

@ gglithox,
Was this a recent purchase ?
Just curious if it was a face to face sale.
Or if you had to use a FFL to transfer, If so... How or what did the FFL write up as serial number?

Welby,
Will it be OK with the Makers name missing ?

I have your NPM OGRAM Picasa Album in my Email, but it's a dead link now.

I Found your post about the NPM from OGRAM that you had a new serial ## applied to.
Pictures are missing but some of the 'How to' information is still on this link from 2009

See replies from WTMR, same guy here as Welby:

To the OP,
Here's a link to the ATF State on Michigan Field Offices:

If mine I would do right away, before the next Administration gets settled in.
Keep us posted.

Not a big deal. I'd do it.

Here is Welby's NPM Presentation Carbine to Ordnance Inspector Ogram
That he had the serial number added to after getting with the ATF Boys.

He had the 'Supplied Serial Number' stamped below the wood line so it wouldn't show when the stock was on.
