Don't worry. Eisenhower murdered millions of German citizens after the war in open air camps with no shelter. The Russians were actually the Soviets and we joined the Allied communists so any murders done by the Soviets were Allied murderers. The Allies of WWI created the climate for a Hitler. You can't loot people into selling their children and expect them to go willingly. Then Germany was looted a 2nd time in the 1940s. After WWII we took all the tech and scientists we could scramble to find to bring them over here.

The legend is not totally exact when it stated then no German prisoners ever get back from Russian POW camp. Some, actually few, did and that up to the late 1950s (I tend to recall 1955 if not 1960). As to ascertained that those guns are the one issued to those German soldiers is maybe just a wild guess. That could as well as just be guns being taken out of storage where they would have been retained after being seized from resistance fighters. Those guns (among which is a Sten SMG) may have been parachuted to the resistance. To issue enemy guns to troops was done by the Reich (and the list is long) but I guess they would do it when sure of a good supply in everything to keep ditto guns operational : this would involve repair ability and supply of ammunition. Was this the case in Denmark? Nothing to do with the Carbine but just a souvenir of my visit in the 80s to the war museum in Copenhagen : The Sten SMG made locally for the resistance in clandestine workshops.

It's the way the victors write history that does that. The war should've never happened. The state of Europe and now all the West is a pretty straight line back to WWII. The war would've never happened if the powers handled the end of WWI properly. In WWII, the Allies starved millions of the Bengal people to death. India doesn't see Adolph's Germany as evil. The M1 Carbine was relished not only by our enemies but quite a few of our own troops too. My FIL is a WWII 65th ID vet and he said most guys would have loved to get a Carbine as opposed to lugging the Garand around, and he even admitted that the "stopping power" wasn't as good but the lighter weight appealed to the infantrymen. He said unfortunately only officers and NCO's usually got them. ------------- 11C2P Airborne Infantry 83-87 |
