Even at 71 a little "Whoops!" can throw a clinker into the works. Today is the first day in a week and a half that I've been able to resume normal activity after a slip where I twisted my back. Even today it was giving me an occasional warning.... Take your time and get better. Don't rush things. The carbine is about your age so I don't think its in any hurry either!

Yes really nice.
Appears the rear sight was pushed pretty far to the left.

Get better, type later.

The sight is to the left, don't know why have never taken out to shoot, center part of sight I moved to the far left to show staking marks.

Sure doesn't look like normal Adj site staking.
I agree with Marcus, that it looks like it was done in the field.
And I don't believe a battle field.

Staking,
I believe someone knocked out the flip sight and put in an adjustable sight; they didn't stake it.
May explain why it is to the left, maybe that is where it "tightened" up.
