Oh, I get it. It was an early high wood I cut stock with the later production stamp thus the bottom of the barrel stock/left over I cut. 👍
I’ve been trying to find an example of the early cartouche for comparison. It must be pretty rare because I can’t find one anywhere

That is generally correct.  According to War Baby,  the outside diameter of the belt on Inland's acceptance stamp is approximately 5/8", Winchester 1/2" and QH's later stamp was 7/16".
The featured carbine, even though it has an early stock, apparently ended up on a later build, and  I think in that example we may be looking at the later acceptance stamp.  [edit.  Thanks Dan for confirming that.  Didn t see your reply while I was digging out WB and typing.]

Mine is closer to 3/4”

WB! doesn't mention the dia. for the early QHMC's belt.  Just that it was 'large'  (p.384).
But I guess we now know it. Smile

I own 1 pretty clear one, I'll have to find it. Just something about them that say's Cool ! Cool
I wish they would have stuck with them, No idea why they went to the smaller one.
